First, thank you for visiting my site and I really hope that you enjoy it and that it helps you out. My name is Brianna, also known as Gluten Free Bri. For those who don’t know; Gluten is what helps keep everything together in food and sauces as well sometimes. Kind of like a glue in a way. It is in foods that have wheat flour and yes, this also means White Flour for those who think that is safe, it’s NOT SAFE if you are GF or just eating GF for health benefits. White Flour is just wheat flour bleached. Gluten is also found in Rye, Barley, and some say that Oats are not good for the gluten intolerant.
While I generally eat gluten free, I’m actually only allergic to wheat flour. I have been allergic to wheat flour for 9 years, but didn’t find that out until 5 years ago through some tests. A quick little note about what happens to me if I eat wheat: I get an excruciating pain in my stomach ( a 10 for those that have been in the hospital and know of the chart they have to tell them how much pain you are in. For those that don’t know though, a 10 is the highest pain on their charts) and it can effect my breathing. One thing that is interesting though; I am able to drink hard alcohol and beer. Which my dad and husband think is because it’s already broken down and my body doesn’t need to do the breaking down of the wheat.
So I started this blog page because I have been cooking for my husband for 3.5 years now. He thought that since my cooking and baking is so yummy for being GF he thought I should share what I make with others who are interested or need to eat GF and want something yummy. So I am making this for those of us that eat Gluten Free (GF) and have a hard time finding things to eat. Lets face it, not everything GF is yummy.
